Quartz vs Granite Kitchen Countertops
YouStone supplies both materials, so this comparison is about fit, not sales. Here is how quartz and granite differ in the kitchen, and how to choose.
| Quartz | Granite | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Engineered surface: crushed natural quartz bound with resin and pigments | Natural igneous stone, cut from quarried blocks |
| Look | Consistent color and pattern; Calacatta designs imitate marble veining | Every slab is unique; spotted, mottled or flowing patterns |
| Sealing | Not needed; non-porous | Recommended; renew when water stops beading |
| Stains | Highly stain resistant | Resistant when sealed; wipe oil and wine promptly |
| Heat | Use trivets; direct high heat can mark the resin | More heat tolerant; trivets still advised |
| Outdoor use | Indoor use; strong sunlight can fade the resin | Suitable indoors and outdoors |
| Matching repeat units | Easy: slabs match closely | Harder: select slabs together |
| YouStone range | 18 quartz colors | 9 granite colors |
Choose quartz if…
- You want a white or marble-look kitchen without marble's upkeep.
- Many units or long runs must match, as in apartments, hotels or show homes.
- You prefer daily cleaning with no sealing schedule.
Choose granite if…
- You want natural stone with a pattern no one else has.
- The top sits next to a range or oven where hot pans land often.
- Part of the job is outdoors, such as a barbecue counter.

Quartz vs Granite FAQ
Which is more durable, quartz or granite?
Both are hard, durable kitchen surfaces. Quartz resists stains without sealing; granite handles heat better. Either will last for many years with normal care.
Which needs less maintenance?
Quartz. It is non-porous and never needs sealing. Most granite countertops benefit from sealing and periodic resealing.
Which is better for a white kitchen?
Quartz offers more consistent whites and Calacatta-look veining. Granite whites, such as YouStone's Rose White or Tiger Skin White, show natural spots and flecks.
Can I order both quartz and granite from YouStone?
Yes. Xiamen YouStone Import & Export Co., Ltd. supplies quartz and granite countertops, so one order can combine both, for example a granite island with quartz perimeter tops.
